Upcoming Events: Call for Proposals for 2011 Spring Flute Festival / Event Date: April 2011 We are happy to announce that we are accepting proposals for the 2011 Spring Festival. We are excited to hear about your lecture, workshop, recital, master class, or anything flute related. The goal of this festival is to include flutists of all ages and abilities, and to create and instill a sense of inspiration and well being to all attendees. More... Young Artist Silver and Bronze Competitions / April 17th 2011 If you are a flutist residing in the Greater San Diego area and wish to participate in one of the other competitions available, please feel free to visit the San Diego Flute Guild website where information and entry forms for these competitions will be available. Festival divisions include: Elementary, Middle School, High School, College, Adult Amateur, Piccolo and Orchestral Auditions. In addition to the festival division categories, there is the Young Artist Bronze (through 9th grade) and Silver (through 12th grade) divisions which cater to the most gifted and talented students. Repertoire requirements for the Young Artist Bronze and Silver divisions are currently listed below as well as on the website (and only open to residents of San Diego County). Members Recital / Sunday, November 14, 2010 All members are encouraged to perform at The Wood Room (3800 30th Street, San Diego, CA 92104) @ 3:00 pm. You may perform as solo flute, flute and piano, mixed ensemble etc. Pretty much anything including flute! We welcome everyone, especially flute teachers, who rarely get to perform :) Please contact Adan Provencio (adanprov@cox.net) to reserve your performance spot. More... Holiday Flute Choir Concert / Friday, December 17, 2010 7:00p.m. The San Diego Flute Guild sponsors an annual holiday concert featuring flute choirs of many sizes from the various private studios in San Diego as well as a few combined choirs open to Flute Guild members. Holiday, sacred and secular music are welcome. This event is free for all Flute Guild members and their families, and is a great way to celebrate the holiday season. More... Artist Gold Competition / April 16th and 17th 2011 $1000 First Prize, $500 Second prize, and $250 Third prize. NO AGE LIMIT! The competition is open to any flute player who is a member of SDFG. Persons wishing to participate in this competition may join SDFG upon entry and do not need to live within the Greater San Diego area. The San Diego Flute Guild Artist Gold Competition is holding a recorded preliminary round. Those chosen to move on to the semi final and final round will perform live in San Diego at the festival. The festival’s featured guest artist, Christina Jennings, will be on the adjudication panel as well as our other featured clinicians. Finalists must agree to perform at the festival at their own expense. Preliminary round recordings (in CD format) will be due February 1st, 2011. Semi finalists will be notified by February 15, 2011. The semi-final round will be held on April 16 and the final round on April 17. More... |
